Modern Presentation of the Opera “Nizami”
In connection with the declaration of 2021 as the “Year of Nizami” by the President, a special event organized by BEAT Group was held on December 21, 2021, at the Heydar Aliyev Palace, featuring a closed, modern-format presentation of the opera “Nizami” by composer Afrasiyab Badalbeyli.
The opera “Nizami,” first staged at the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theatre in 1948, is dedicated to the life of poet Nizami Ganjavi. The work, written based on the motifs of Mammad Said Ordubadi’s novel “The Sword and the Pen,” consists of 5 acts and 6 scenes. It portrays the struggle of the noble and humane Nizami against power-hungry individuals. Featuring extensive choral scenes, the opera represents a significant milestone in the development of Azerbaijani operatic art.
